Here are some of my thoughts about Fahrenheit 9/11 and the Bush Administration. Did I mention it was a great movie? Well, now I'll tell you why. I will also systematically pick apart the blind opposition to this movie.

First of all most, if not all, of the material in the film can be crossed checked for accuracy. Let me begin with a just a small list of the facts presented. The country of Saudi Arabia controls approximately 7% of the US economy. There is a pipeline being built that runs through Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, to the Persian Gulf. The companies that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were CEOs of stand an untold amount to gain from the war in Iraq. There were no WMDs found in Iraq. There was no link ever found between Al-queda and Saddam or the country of Iraq. Over 200 of Bin Laden's relatives were given plane tickets to leave the USA on 9/13/01 (some say without being questioned by authorities).

This is the tip of the iceberg. These facts presented here are common knowledge. If these facts somehow can allow a person to draw some other conclusion about the Bush administration, other than that they are war profiteers, I am open to arguments (based in fact only please). Here is my email: Lamprey187@hotmail.com

Please also enclose a paragraph with your argument explaining to me how you justify the bloodshed caused for the tax break you received (which has created the largest debt we have ever had by the way). I just want to know how a person with no conscience justifies such things.

I hear that the main reason Bush even exists in the polls anymore is because people think he has led some type of vigilant battle against terrorism. Once again you might want to take a little peek at the facts and see the death toll from terrorism has doubled in the past year. You might also want to look into how the numbers that revealed this were manipulated, and only came out after the State Department was forced to tell the truth.

If you are a conservative or a Republican I only ask 1 simple thing of you. Examine only the facts. That doesn't mean watch only Fox news because they preach what you want to hear. Gather cold, hard evidence and draw a logical conclusion. If you find you still support Bush at this point, then you have an ulterior motive based in either greed or racism; or a very skewed viewpoint of what ideals your political party is supposed to represent.

If you are one that studies history, I propose this closing thought to you. This war is about as effective towards stamping out terrorism as the Vietnam War was towards eliminating Communism in Vietnam. We quickly approach the loss of 1,000 US service men and women in this war. It was approx. 50,000 in Vietnam. Let's correct the mistake and learn from history.

worth a look: facts

Saturday, June 26, 2004

I usually don't make a practice of going to movies on an opening night. However tonight I made a worthwhile exception and saw "Fahrenheit 9/11". I suggest if you still believe in freedom of speech, to go check out this movie. Those who will try to debunk this film will do it with lies and deception, because after all the entire Bush Presidency is one giant pack of lies and deception. This film brings some very interesting facts to the table. Things you just won't see on the news. I will tell you this, there were approximately 150-200 people viewing this film from 12:05 am to 2:30 am. About 90% of the crowd applauded at the end. Wonder how the 2004 election will go?

Thanks to Mr. Moore for making this film and also showing the city of Flint, Michigan to the rest of the world. What this film is, the hard truth. The ugly truth. The truth we all need to be reminded of.

June 22, 1870, The U.S. Congress created the Department of Justice.

So hopefully that gives us some comfort that 134 years of practice makes perfect. I for one will sleep much better tonight knowing that somebody can come dig through my trash can for crucial information. Just to save them a little time, they won't find any hidden photos.

Justice is such a generic word. It usually implies some form of retribution. Paying for one's wrong doings. So ask yourself this simple question; is the Department of Justice adequately doing their job?

In all fairness some of the work they do we never hear about. However, some of the work they screw up affects us all greatly.

June 21, 1913, Georgia Broadwick became the first woman to jump from an airplane.

I don't make these things up, nor do I jump from planes. I don't think I'd jump from the 1st step of my porch unless I had to, and I'd feel safer doing that if I was holding a rifle.

Since I sporadically write in here I don't know if anybody reads the blog anymore. No matter. I write this blog as if it were graffiti on the wall. Maybe somebody will walk by and see.

A special thanks goes out to Joe DDDDUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMAAAAAAAARRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Hey Joe D, we loved you when you played and now we thank you for putting this awesome team together. Best General Manager in the league.

Coach Larry Brown, NCAA championship, NBA championship. Olympic Gold???
The hoops triple crown. Even Jack Nicholson loves ya man.
THE 2004 WORLD CHAMPION DETROIT PISTONS.

I don't wanna hear the BS and excuses. The Lakers got whooped up on by the better team. I don't care about Shaq or Kobe or what they did in the past. I don't care about Phil Jackson's trophies. The question of who was the best hoops team in the land was answered on the court at the Palace. Just in case anbody wants to know what being the better team means in basketball terms I will tell you. It means out hustling, out rebounding, out shooting, out defending, and out coaching your opponent. It also means working as a team instead of a couple guys that want the limelight and the ball all the time. Oh Shaq, it also means being able to shoot a free throw when you get paid millions of dollars to do so. Defense is not played by slapping or pushing or tackling your opponent in hoops to compensate for your lack of speed on the court. The Lakers can feel free to read this advice when they rebuild their team in the off season. I think they will be more interested in looking at their own highlight reels from a few years ago and counting their money, after all like Shaq said "it is a business." That quote pretty much sums up the way the Lakers went out. With no heart and no championship.

Hopefully the Pistons will wrap things up tonight at the Palace. What could be better than winning the championship at home? Embarrassing Shaq and Kobe maybe??? Oh wait we've done that already. Maybe the Eastern conference is a little tougher than the west coast thought? If you think I'm trash talking I'm not, I'll wait for the trophy and the rings before I start the real trash talk.

Much respect goes out to Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, and the rest of the Pistons. You guys already proved everything out on the court, now just time to wrap it up and collect your much deserved championship. Thanks for bringing Detroit fans everywhere into the excitement. I only have good things to say about this team, but 3 things stand out to me the most. Number 1: rebounding, you guys own the boards on both ends. Number 2: defense, do I even need to say this????? Best in both conferences. Number 3: playing together as a team and wanting the title enough to work hard for it. Anybody who has even watched 1/2 of this series has seen LA forced into trying to play your type of game and they can't. I don't care what excuses or crap anybody wants to throw out there. LA looks tired, unable to shoot the ball (except for Shaq in the low post), and out hustled in every department. That is all I have to say.

And by the way........Kobe is NO MICHAEL JORDAN. I don't think Michael would have ever said his team sucked in a press conference. Then again, his team never did.

There are about 50 topics in the news I could write about right now. President Reagan and Ray Charles pass away in the same week. Jimmy Kimmel makes stupid and insulting remarks about Detroit. The Bush administration appears to be on its last leg with Kerry 7 points ahead in the polls. So where do I even begin?

I suppose I'll start with President Reagan. He was elected by a landslide when I was in the 4th grade. Reaganomics.....Iran contra scandal and Ollie North shredding documents.......the first space shuttle disaster.....deregulation of the airlines.....AIDS......Reagan declares ketchup is a vegetable in the public schools.......trickle down economics......"TEAR DOWN THIS WALL !!!"..........Nancy Reagan consults with astrologers......1981 shot by a would-be assassin......1984 Democratic challengers Walter F. Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro.

Whether or not you agreed with President Reagan, there is no denying that he shaped America and the world for 8 years. If you lived through the 80's or grew up at that time, President Reagan influnced your life in one way or another. I think "The Great Communicator" had his good points and bad points. For what it is worth, he was a leader with strength when the country needed such a leader. I say this even though I disagreed with some of his ideologies.

Ray Charles: One of the greatest musicians of our time. It is that simple. His music speaks for itself. I've never heard a Ray Charles song that I didn't like. His music will live on.

I think that is enough for one rambling.

whoa.....I didn't think my post from June 8th made it through.....I'll leave it up though. I don't feel nearly as stark raving mad at this moment.......just give me a few days though I'll see what I can do.
Does anybody read this thing ?????? I don't know. I was enjoying my own rambling about horse racing. I think it is about as crooked as boxing though. Hell, is there anything that isn't crooked these days? Maybe it is time for a spiritual rambling ??? About the world being consumed by greed and sin. I heard an interesting definition of sin the other day. It basically stated sin was the absence of humility in our actions. I think this is a good working definition. I think it is hard for one to sin if they are acting humbly before God. I think that is enough to ponder for a moment. I could probably count 17 million ways I have acted without humility in the past. I think we all could.

A panic attack typically lasts for several minutes and is one of the most distressing conditions that a person can experience. Most who have one attack will have others. When someone has repeated attacks, or feels severe anxiety about having another attack, he or she is said to have panic disorder.

(the above was taken from some damn web page)

What this paragraph fails to mention is: How many minutes is several minutes and if you have them continuously throughout the day in waves it is hard to discern when they begin and when they stop.

Some stats I've recently looked up. 90-70% of people with Panic disorder respond to treatment, however this occurs within the 1st 10-20 weeks and is also panic is 75% reoccuring.

Now let's just make up a hypothetical patient and call him Joe Schmoe. Joe has had panic disorder for 7 years. He has pretty much fallen into the 30% that isn't responding, but nobody will really come out and be up front with Joe. They will paint little, pretty, unrealistic pictures for him until 50 years from now when they figure out a cure. Nobody will ever tell him to his face, hey you are screwed buddy. You will have this for the rest of your life. Good luck man.

So Joe (did I mention Joe was highly intelligent) hangs on by a thread some days. Other days are decent. Joe believes in truth above all else. Even the truth is sketchy here at best. The truth either lies in a chemical formula somewhere in the cosmos, or locked in the code of DNA. Where the truth does not lie is in the smoky mirrors of slanted statistics and theories that are only 70% accurate.

I can only think of one story at this moment. It takes place around 1910 or so. To make it really short there was a woman with diabetes and at that time it was a death sentence. Now it is not. 100 years later. Don't ask what happened to the woman.

Usually I have a point or at least I am going somewhere with this. If I could make one wish I'd eliminate panic disorder. If I could make a more realistic wish, I'd wish for a brilliance of understanding in chemistry and mathematics. For an even more realistic wish, I wish that a person out there with that brilliance in chemistry would crack this riddle of suffering. I realize there are more pressing issues such as cancer, however doesn't the government spend billions on studying fruit flies and honey bees?

I may just change the name of this blog to ranting and raving stark mad delusions instead of simply ramblings. I think the title change might increase my readership.

Well the good news is the Pistons kicked the Lakers butt on LA's home court in Game 1. The bad news is Smarty Jones came in 2nd. That pretty much sums up the weekend in sports.

I will now make a statement about sports in general. When you are the underdog, you've got nothing to lose if you go out there and play your game and stick to your plan.

I will be perfectly honest, I did not expect Birdstone to be a shocker at the Belmont. I also did not expect the Pistons to play a good tactical game and contain the Lakers in game 1. I wanted a triple crown winner. I won't lie. Even little kids were drawing pictures of Smarty Jones with their crayons and emotions were running high. This is what we love about sports though. If you are from my era then maybe you remember the TV show "Wide World of Sports". In the intro to the show they always showed a ski jumper having a severe crash and they said "The agony of defeat!!". It is built into all competition, if there is a winner then there also is a loser, and that loser has poured in blood, sweat, and tears just like the winner did.

Smarty, I bet the kids still love ya. You are still a great horse. The triple crown remains uncaptured and mysterious as ever. Oh yeah, almost forgot, the Stanley cup has gone to a game 7. Go Calgary.

Friday, June 04, 2004

I gotta be honest. Writing about sports is more fun than religion or politics for me. First of all WAY TO GO PISTONS. Please shock the world and upset the Lakers. Ok with that out of the way onto horse racing.

The Belmont is on Saturday evening for those that haven't been following the travels of Smarty Jones the wonder horse. He is a HEAVY favorite to win. This race is 1 and 1/2 miles. The thing is, absolutely none of the horses in the race have run this long of a distance. This is what makes the Belmont the elusive crown jewel of the triple crown for so many horses. If you like to bet the on the horseys as some of us do, good luck handicapping this one. The only prediction I am making is Smarty to win. I base this on his strong finish at the Preakness. Other than that, pick your other favorite 2 horses and box them with Smarty Jones and then kiss your lucky horse shoe.

On a strictly personal note: I am sincerely pulling for Smarty to capture the triple crown. In 1978, I was 7 years old, time for another triple crown horse. Let's face it, there will never be another Secretariat(1973), so this is like watching Haley's comet or a full solar eclipse(if you are a fan of racing). The folks in Philadelphia will go wild if Smarty wins, and I think they should build a bronze statue of him and place it next to the one of Rocky if he wins the Belmont.
