Technology causes complacency. You can quote me on this. Believe me, I am not above what I am about to write here, rather a victim of the 21st century.

This is an excerpt from an email I recently wrote:

I actually have been computing since before the days of a mouse, before windows, I miss those good old days, but then again they weren't so good. The main problem, or dislike I have between now (everything at our fingertips) vs. then (had to work and be creative to get anything done) is the lack of creativity that has grown out of complacency. I equate it to the design of cars.......for example muscle cars of the 60's were so much better than the crap they make nowadays. You'd think with better tools we would see more creativity, but I think it works in reverse. I think people need limitations to push themselves to be creative.

At any rate, my basic point is the technology we have in our everyday lives could be utilized more productively and creatively on a whole. Maybe I'm just nostalgic.

Democratic Convention From AP news on Excite.com

July 23, 1715, The first lighthouse in America was authorized for construction at Little Brewster Island, Massachusetts.

There you have it folks. Little Brewster Island. You heard it here first. Dave's Ramblings reporting the news almost 300 years later.
July 22, 1926, Babe Ruth caught a baseball at Mitchell Field in New York. The ball had been dropped from an airplane flying at 250 feet.

Way to go Bambino !!!!

July 15, 1863, Confederate raider, Bill Anderson, and his Bushwackers attack Huntsville, MI, where they stole $45,000 from the local bank.

For those that know me, well you know I am a history buff. So when I saw this information, I wondered how it had eluded me. So I did a little research.

Your search - bill anderson bushwackers 1863 huntsville michigan -alabama -AL - did not match any documents.

Well, well, well!!! This is a first. After a little checking it turns out it was Huntsville, MO. That would be Missouri not Michigan for the person that does this day in history. Must I correct even historians and computer geeks now? Ugh. Saddest part is I got all excited about finding some possible Civil War history related to Michigan. So it turns out just to be a typo.

I've heard many stories of Confederate Raiders. What struck me is that in all my knowledge, I had never heard of any making it to Michigan. This is pretty far north.

Oh well, the typo was courtesy of excite.com

I'm still waiting for that million dollar book offer, so I guess I'll continue to write in here.

The perfect place (a short random writing).

The air always blows a cool breeze, but never a cold breeze. The sun is never too hot, but just warm enough. There is water as far as the eye can see on the horizon. Gentle waves. The weather is like this 365 days a year, and all that come to this place feel healed and worry-free. There is a long pier to fish from. There is an endless beach to swim at, where the water temperature is just slightly cooler than warm bathwater. I call this place heaven. I have never been there, only in my day dreams. It lies off some forgotten highway, right next to the place where they give you all the winning lottery numbers.

July 08, 1881, Edward Berner, druggist in Two Rivers, WI, poured chocolate syrup on ice cream in a dish. Up to this time, chocolate syrup had only been used for making ice-cream sodas.

Now call me a madman if you will, but this seemed like an obvious next step for chocolate syrup. 1881 seems like a long time to wait for this to happen. So I am asking myself, are there any other obvious food combos we have overlooked???? Ketchup on broccoli? Mayo on cornflakes?

I actually have put spaghetti sauce over stove top stuffing before and I liked it. I want that chronicled for generations to come. Tell your children and grandchildren.

See it just won't go down in history because I am not a druggist. Now if I were a druggist things may have turned out differently. Those crazy druggists. Inventing everything they can get their hands on.

Today it was announced that Senator Edwards will be running for Vice-President on the Democratic ticket. I think this will add some positive energy and balance to the ticket.

For those that might scrutinize Vice-Presidential candidates or Vice-Presidents for that matter; just ask yourself one question: "Would Dick Cheney tackle an old lady and steal her pocketbook if he thought there was oil in it?"; or he might just hire some of his contractors to build a tank to run the old lady over. I mean Dick is hard up for money, oil, and weapons. Not like good ole honest Dick would ever think of manipulating a war for his own profit. Heaven forbid. Dick is a good guy right???? He is looking out for us all. There's a guy I want making decisions that affect me. What's that, you say you disagree??? Then you must think George W. Bush is the "BRAINS" behind the operation. May God help you.

They do say however, "Ignorance is bliss".

Sadly, there are those of you that know full well that blood is being spilled over lies you were told, but you still choose to cover your eyes because you receive a large tax cut. What a small price you put on human life, civil rights, personal feedom, American jobs, your fellow Americans, and the bankruptcy of our nation.

Everything that our heroes of the past fought and died for is is being tarnished by greed. When you set foot in the voting booth I want you to think about America and the Statue of Liberty. Think of the words of our LADY LIBERTY. She shines for the poor and huddled masses. She offers hope of the American dream. She does not discriminate. She does not say LIBERTY is only for the rich and elite. She does not say LIBERTY is gained through corporate greed and wars for profit and oil pipelines. Our LADY LIBERTY represents the America I hope for and dream about each and every day of my life. I know in my heart that leaders filled with corporate greed WILL NOT put us on the right path.

If you are a Veteran, this administration has cut your benefits. If you are an educator or a student, this administration has cut your resources. If you work in manufacturing, this administration has either put you out of a job or is trying to. If you are not wealthy or elite this administration has screwed you in one way or another. I see no LIBERTY in this. I see that the Bush administration has taken liberties with the TRUTH. Taken liberties with our jobs. Taken liberties with our men and women in the Armed Services, and put them in harms way.

We have impeached Presidents in the past for doing less damage than this administration has done. I want my country back. I have not forgotten what LIBERTY means. I have not forgotten what HONOR means. I have not forgotten what FREEDOM means. I have not forgotten what THE PURSUIT OF HAPINESS means. Have you forgotten?

Some of my loyal readers may have heard of Art Bell, and since in my title I promise esoteric knowledge..........well this link would be the place for all things esoteric, strange, and just plain full of crap. However, some of the stuff is fun and full of possibilities.
