Joe Torre's job is safe for now
"The season is still very young, but up to now the results are clearly not acceptable to me or to Yankee fans," Steinbrenner said in a statement. "However, Brian Cashman, our general manager, Joe Torre, our manager, and our players all believe that they will turn this around quickly." says Steinbrenner.
Here is my two cents. The Yankees have the most injury prone pitching staff in the Majors. It is time for them to begin trade talks for some pitchers. They could easily cut that top heavy lineup (that isn't hitting too well) and balance the roster with at least 2 pitchers. The funny part to me is that in NYC if you sit in last place the fans start screaming for somebody's head on a pike. Could be why the Yanks have won more crowns than any other team. I don't think they will be adding to that number this year though. If you take a look around both leagues you will see many teams that have produced winners with lower budgets and they based their teams around a quality starting rotation. A couple examples, Detroit and Minnesota. Also look how Boston has beefed up their pitching staff. Guess they were pissed about losing the division last year to the lackluster Yankees that got bombed in the post-season.
So if you wanna watch a good team in NYC, just turn on the Mets game.

The dollar came within a whisker of an all-time low against the euro. Maybe this article can explain why. Maybe our dollar just isn't worth much these days.

Red Wings win series, beating Calgary in 2nd OT
